Google AI brand monitoring

Monitor How Google's AI Describes Your Brand

Searching a company's name used to return its website and a few reviews. Now Google may answer "[brand] reviews" or "is [brand] worth it" with an AI summary first — written from review sites, forums and articles you don't control. Brand monitoring keeps track of what those summaries say about you.

Branded searches Google may answer with AI

Example branded searches

  • [brand] reviews
  • is [brand] legit
  • [brand] complaints
  • [brand] vs [competitor]
  • [brand] price list
  • [brand] alternatives

Searches like these happen late in the buying journey — the person already knows your name. An AI summary at the top of the page can confirm the decision or send them to a competitor.

Where Google's summary of you comes from

Google builds its AI answers from pages in its index — review platforms, forums, news articles, comparison pages and your own site. The links attached to the answer show which ones were used. If an old forum thread or a single negative article keeps appearing as a source, that's the page shaping how people see you.

What to watch for

  • Review summaries — whether the tone reflects your current reviews or older ones.
  • Resolved complaints that keep resurfacing as if they were current.
  • Wrong facts — prices, locations, services, opening hours.
  • Competitors in your own brand search — "[brand] alternatives" answers name them by design; check who.
  • Differences between AI Overviews and AI Mode — the same branded search can get different summaries.

Responding to what you find

  1. Fix your own pages first: state current prices, services and policies clearly.
  2. Publish direct answers to the questions people ask about you — pricing, guarantees, how you handle problems.
  3. Respond to reviews and keep your listings and profiles current.
  4. Ask publishers to correct outdated facts, with a link to where you state the correct ones.

The same process applies to other assistants — see how to correct wrong information in ChatGPT.

Monitoring branded searches in YourAIRank

Add your branded searches as your own questions. YourAIRank runs them on Google AI Overviews and AI Mode for your business's location and language, stores the full answer and its linked sources, and labels searches where Google showed no AI answer. Pro re-checks up to 10 questions every 7 days. Pro isn't available to buy yet — the free check works today.

Keep most tracked questions unbranded — they measure discovery. Branded ones are for reading what's said about you.

Frequently asked questions

Can I stop Google showing an AI summary for my brand?

+

Not for searches in general. You can limit how Google uses your own pages — the nosnippet and max-snippet controls also apply to AI features — but that doesn't stop Google summarising what other sites say.

Is this the same as monitoring reviews?

+

It overlaps. Review monitoring shows what customers wrote; AI brand monitoring shows which of it Google repeats at the top of the results.

What about ChatGPT and Claude?

People ask them about brands too — see ChatGPT brand monitoring and Claude brand monitoring.
