AI Visibility for Ecommerce Brands and Stores
Shoppers ask AI to narrow the choice before they open a single shop: which product fits their need, whether a brand is worth the price, and where to buy it with fast delivery. The answer names products, brands and sometimes stores. AI visibility shows whether your brand and your store make that shortlist.
Five questions shoppers ask AI
Example shopper questions · two set in Dubai
- where to buy a refurbished iPhone in Dubai with a warranty
- sunscreen brands with same-day delivery in Dubai
- best espresso machine for beginners under €300
- sustainable sneaker brands that ship to Germany
- is [brand] worth the price compared with [competitor]?
Two different things can win here: the product or brand a shopper should choose, and the store they should buy it from. Retailers of other brands mostly compete on the second; brands selling direct compete on both.
Where AI looks when someone wants to buy
Your tracked answers show which of these dominate your categories. Shopping answers typically lean on:
- independent product reviews and testing sites;
- "best X for Y" buying guides;
- marketplaces and price-comparison sites;
- brand and retailer product pages, for specs, prices and delivery terms;
- owner discussions in forums and Q&A threads.
Mention vs citation for an online store
A mention puts your brand or shop name in the answer. A citation links a page — and in shopping answers, the cited page is often a marketplace listing or a review site rather than your own product page, even when the product is yours.
That matters because the citation is where the click goes. If a marketplace listing of your own product is cited instead of your store, compare the two: the marketplace page usually states specs, price, delivery and returns more completely.
Six steps for online stores
- Write product descriptions that answer buyer questions: who it's for, what it fits, what it doesn't do.
- State price, stock, delivery areas and times, and returns in text on each product page.
- Add Product and Offer structured data that matches the visible page — see structured data for AI search.
- Publish buying guides and honest comparisons for your main categories.
- Get products into the review and testing sites that are cited for your categories.
- Track product, comparison and "where to buy in [city]" questions separately.
How YourAIRank tracks an online store
The free AI visibility checker builds 3 shopper questions from your own category and product pages and asks ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Google AI Mode and Google AI Overviews. Pro tracks up to 10 questions every 7 days. We analyse the answer text and its cited links; product-card layouts aren't scored separately. Pro is launching soon.

Frequently asked questions
We sell other brands. Can we still be recommended?
+
Yes — for "where to buy" questions, and whenever your product pages or guides are the cited source. Track those questions apart from product questions.
Do marketplace listings help or hurt?
+
Both. They can get your product mentioned, but they're often cited instead of your own store. Make your product pages at least as complete as your marketplace listings.
Which questions should a store track first?
+
Your top categories phrased the way buyers ask, two or three comparisons, and "where to buy [category] in [city or country]".
We sell software, not physical products.
