ChatGPT brand monitoring

Monitor What ChatGPT Says About Your Brand

People now ask ChatGPT about a company before they contact it: "is [brand] any good?", "[brand] vs [competitor]", "what does [brand] cost?". Brand monitoring tracks those answers — what ChatGPT says when your brand is the subject of the question, and whether it's accurate.

Brand monitoring vs rank tracking

You need both. Rank tracking — see the ChatGPT rank tracker — tells you whether you get onto the shortlist; brand monitoring tells you what happens once someone asks about you specifically.

Branded questions worth monitoring

Example branded questions

  • is [brand] legit?
  • [brand] reviews — what do customers say?
  • how much does [brand] cost?
  • [brand] vs [main competitor]
  • alternatives to [brand]
  • does [brand] offer [service] in [city]?

"Alternatives to [brand]" is worth special attention: it's the question where ChatGPT recommends your competitors to people who were already looking at you.

What to check in the answers

  • Facts — prices, locations, services, opening hours, products you no longer sell.
  • Positioning — the words used to describe you ("budget option", "for enterprises", "limited support").
  • Comparisons — which competitors you're put next to, and who comes out ahead.
  • Sources — an old review or an outdated article can drive the whole answer.
  • Identity — whether ChatGPT confuses you with a company that has a similar name.

When ChatGPT gets your brand wrong

Wrong facts usually come from outdated pages, old listings or older training data — and they can be fixed at the source. The step-by-step process is in how to correct wrong information in ChatGPT.

Setting up brand monitoring in YourAIRank

The questions YourAIRank suggests are deliberately unbranded, because they measure discovery. For brand monitoring, add your own questions that name your brand — you can write and edit questions yourself. Each answer is stored in full, so you can read exactly what ChatGPT said and compare it with the previous check.

Pro asks up to 10 questions every 7 days, with 20 on-demand re-checks a month for when you've fixed something and want to see whether the answer changed. Pro isn't available to buy yet — the free check works today.

A branded question will almost always mention you, so it says little about visibility. Keep most tracked questions unbranded and read the branded ones for what's said.

Frequently asked questions

Does ChatGPT remember what it said about my brand?

+

Not across users. Each answer is written fresh. Memory in the ChatGPT app is personal to that user and doesn't change what others see.

How often should branded answers be checked?

+

Regularly enough to catch changes after launches, price changes or press coverage. A fixed schedule plus a re-check after each change works well.
