llms.txt Generator
Generate a draft llms.txt for your website from your own homepage and sitemap. Review it, edit it, and publish it at the root of your site.
What llms.txt is
llms.txt is a proposed standard (llmstxt.org): a Markdown file at /llms.txt that gives AI tools a short, curated summary of your site — what it is, and links to the pages that matter most.
It's a convenience for AI tools that choose to read it, not a ranking factor and not a replacement for robots.txt or a sitemap. It's cheap to publish and easy to keep accurate, which is why many sites add one.
How the draft is generated
- We read your homepage: site name, title, meta description and the links in your navigation, header and footer.
- We look for your sitemap (from robots.txt, then /sitemap.xml) and group its URLs by section.
- We build the file with your own wording: link text from your navigation, and page names from URLs when no link text exists.
Nothing is invented. If your homepage has no description, the draft contains a clearly marked line asking you to write one — it doesn't make one up.
Example
Example llms.txt (fictional business)
- # Northwind Dental
- > Family and cosmetic dentistry in Dubai Marina.
- ## Main pages
- - [Services](https://northwind.example/services)
- - [Book an appointment](https://northwind.example/book)
- ## Blog
- - [Teeth whitening aftercare](https://northwind.example/blog/whitening-aftercare)
Before you publish
- Check the one-line description: it should say what you offer, for whom, and where.
- Keep only pages you'd want an AI assistant to read first: services, pricing, locations, key guides.
- Save the file as plain text at https://yourdomain.com/llms.txt.
- Update it when your main pages change.
Whether AI actually mentions you is a separate question — the free AI visibility checker answers that.
Frequently asked questions
Does llms.txt improve my rankings in ChatGPT?
+
There's no evidence that it does on its own. Treat it as a tidy, accurate summary for tools that read it — not as a ranking shortcut.
Do you use AI to write the file?
+
No. The draft is built from your homepage and sitemap only, so it can't contain claims your site doesn't make.
What if my site has no sitemap?
+
The draft uses your navigation links. Adding a sitemap.xml also helps search engines, and the AI readiness checker tells you if one is missing.
